How to Get Glowing Skin Before Christmas: The Treatments to Start in October & November

From the The RAKUS Clinic, Knightsbridge

If you want your skin to look its best for Christmas, December is not necessarily the best time to start thinking about it.

Some treatments can leave skin looking fresher and more hydrated relatively quickly. Others work by stimulating changes within the skin and need several weeks, or a course of sessions, before their full benefit becomes apparent. Treatments involving resurfacing also need enough time for recovery.

Starting in October or November therefore gives us more options. Rather than relying on a last-minute facial, there is time to address concerns such as pigmentation, uneven texture, dehydration, fine lines or reduced elasticity, then use December for any final finishing touches.

At Rakus Clinic in Knightsbridge, we often plan pre-event treatment by working backwards from the important date. What we recommend depends on the condition of the skin, the result you want and how much downtime you can realistically accommodate.

When Should You Start Skin Treatments Before Christmas?

A useful way to plan is to divide the run-up to Christmas into three stages.

October is the time to address concerns that need longer to improve. If pigmentation, sun damage, uneven texture, pores or fine lines are making the complexion look less fresh, this may be the point to consider UltraClear. It is also a sensible time to begin Polynucleotides where gradual skin regeneration is the priority.

November can focus more on hydration and skin quality. Profhilo may be appropriate for dehydrated, crepey or less elastic skin, while a Polynucleotide course can continue where indicated.

December is generally better suited to treatments with minimal downtime. Hydrafacial and Perk can refresh and hydrate the skin closer to an event without needing weeks for the result to develop.

This is not a schedule everyone needs to follow. If your skin is healthy and simply looks a little dull, there may be no reason to start treatment in October. The purpose of planning early is to give yourself enough time to choose the right treatment rather than trying to fit a more intensive procedure into December.

Which Treatment Is Best for Glowing Skin Before Christmas?

“Glowing skin” can mean different things.

For one person, dullness is mainly caused by dehydration and surface congestion. Another may be noticing pigmentation after summer, while someone else is more concerned about fine lines, reduced elasticity or tired-looking skin around the eyes.

That distinction determines which treatment is likely to be useful.

Hydrafacial focuses on cleansing, exfoliation and hydration. Profhilo works within the skin to improve hydration and overall skin quality. Polynucleotides take a regenerative approach, while UltraClear can address more established pigmentation, texture, pores, lines and acne scarring. Perk provides a quick, targeted refresh for the face, lips or eye area.

The question is therefore not simply which treatment creates the most glow, but what is currently preventing your skin from looking its best.

Why Might UltraClear Be Better Started in October?

If the main concern is sun damage, pigmentation, uneven texture, enlarged pores, fine lines or acne scarring, adding hydration alone may not address the underlying problem.

UltraClear is a cold fibre laser that can be tailored to different levels of skin rejuvenation, from lighter treatments to deeper resurfacing and collagen remodelling. Treatment intensity is selected according to the skin concern and the amount of recovery time available.

This flexibility is particularly relevant before Christmas. A lighter treatment may involve relatively little disruption, whereas deeper resurfacing can require more recovery. Improvements can also continue after the initial healing period as the skin remodels.

For that reason, we would normally prefer to leave adequate time between a more intensive laser treatment and an important event rather than trying to fit resurfacing into December.

Autumn can also be a practical time to reassess pigmentation that has become more noticeable after summer and to plan laser treatment when strong sun exposure is generally easier to avoid.

When Should You Start Polynucleotides Before Christmas?

Polynucleotides are better planned in weeks rather than days.

At Rakus Clinic, Polynucleotides are used to support skin repair, hydration and collagen production. Rather than creating facial volume, the aim is to improve the condition and resilience of the skin itself.

They may be considered for concerns including fine lines, reduced elasticity, dullness, dehydration and changes in texture. They can also be particularly useful when the delicate eye area looks tired or less resilient.

Results develop gradually as the skin responds, which is why starting earlier makes sense. A course may also be recommended rather than a single treatment, depending on the skin and the concern being addressed.

If Christmas is the goal, beginning in October or November allows time to assess the response and continue treatment where appropriate. This is very different from choosing a facial a few days before a party for an immediate surface refresh.

For patients interested in improving hydration alongside longer-term skin quality, our guide to Revitalis and the glazed-skin approach also looks at how injectable hydration, Polynucleotides and other treatments can play different roles within a wider skin plan.

Is Profhilo a Good Treatment to Have Before Christmas?

Profhilo can be useful when the skin looks dehydrated, crepey or less elastic, particularly when the aim is to improve skin quality without altering facial proportions.

It contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid and is injected beneath the skin, where it spreads through the tissue. It provides deep hydration while supporting collagen and elastin production.

This is different from dermal filler. Profhilo is not being used to build cheekbones or change facial contours. The focus is on hydration, elasticity and the overall quality of the skin.

That can be particularly relevant during late autumn and winter, when colder weather and central heating may leave skin feeling drier or looking less fresh.

For a Christmas goal, November gives the treatment time to settle and the skin time to respond rather than leaving an injectable treatment until immediately before an event.

What Does a Hydrafacial Do Before an Event?

Not everybody needs to begin months in advance. If the skin is fundamentally healthy but looks congested, dehydrated or lacklustre, Hydrafacial can be useful closer to Christmas.

The treatment combines cleansing and exfoliation with extraction where required, followed by the delivery of hydrating ingredients to the skin. Rather than creating structural change, it focuses on the surface condition of the complexion, helping skin look smoother, fresher and better hydrated.

This makes Hydrafacial particularly useful as the finishing stage of a longer plan. Someone may address pigmentation or texture earlier in autumn, allow the skin to recover fully, and then focus on hydration and radiance closer to Christmas.

For patients without significant pigmentation, scarring or textural concerns, Hydrafacial may also be all that is needed. Our guide to using Hydrafacial before a holiday or special event explains in more detail why timing it shortly before an occasion can work particularly well.

Can Perk Be Used Just Before a Christmas Party?

Perk fits naturally at the finishing end of a Christmas skin plan.

Developed by the makers of Hydrafacial, it combines gentle exfoliation with targeted serum delivery and can be used on the face, lips and eye area.

The lip treatment can help smooth and hydrate dry lips, while treatment around the eyes can refresh delicate skin. The facial option provides gentle exfoliation and hydration.

As treatment is quick, non-invasive and does not require the recovery associated with resurfacing, it can be particularly practical when an event is approaching. It may also help create a smoother, more hydrated base for make-up.

Can You Combine Treatments Before Christmas?

Yes, where different treatments have distinct roles.

Someone with post-summer pigmentation and uneven texture, for example, might start with UltraClear. Once the skin has recovered, Hydrafacial may be used later to concentrate on hydration and surface radiance.

Another patient may have relatively even skin tone but notice dehydration, reduced elasticity and changes around the eyes. Profhilo may be considered for broader skin quality, with Polynucleotides used where a more targeted regenerative approach is appropriate.

Hydrafacial or Perk can then provide a final refresh closer to an event.

The important part is sequencing. We would usually address the main concern first, allow the skin to respond and then decide whether another treatment would add something useful. More treatment does not automatically produce a better result.

What Is the Best Christmas Skin Treatment Timeline?

A simple timeline can help show when to start each treatment so your skin has time to respond before Christmas.

FAQs About Getting Glowing Skin Before Christmas

Is October too early to start preparing my skin for Christmas?

No. October gives more flexibility if you are considering treatments that involve gradual regeneration, collagen stimulation or recovery. If you only need hydration and a fresher appearance, however, you may not need to start this early.

Can I have treatment if I have several Christmas events?

Yes, but tell your practitioner the dates before treatment. This allows any expected recovery to be considered when planning your appointments.

Should I change my skincare before having a Christmas treatment?

Possibly. Certain active skincare ingredients may need to be adjusted around some procedures, particularly resurfacing treatments. Follow the advice given for the treatment you are having rather than changing your routine without guidance.

Can men have these treatments before Christmas events?

Yes. Treatment is selected according to skin condition and concerns rather than gender. Hydration, pigmentation, texture, congestion and fine lines can all be assessed individually.

What if I only decide I want a treatment a week before Christmas?

There may still be suitable options, but this is generally not the time to introduce a treatment requiring meaningful recovery. The priority would be choosing something appropriate for your skin and the time available.

Where Can I Plan My Christmas Skin Treatments in London?

You do not necessarily need several treatments to achieve fresher-looking skin for Christmas. The advantage of starting in October or November is simply that there is time to address the concern properly.

For some patients, that means treating pigmentation or texture earlier with UltraClear. For others, Profhilo or Polynucleotides may be more relevant to skin quality, while Hydrafacial or Perk may provide the finishing touch closer to an event.

Rakus Clinic is located at 34 Hans Road in Knightsbridge, London, opposite Harrods and conveniently placed for patients visiting from Chelsea, Belgravia, South Kensington and across central London.
